Without access to sanitary pads, homeless women may be forced to use unhygienic alternatives such as newspapers, or old rags. Our organisation hopes to empower them by reducing the burden of the blue Tax and giving them peace of mind during their period.
Studies have shown approximately 60% of women have suffered/suffer from infections during their period. Our Hygiene Awareness Campaign is an initiative to promote sanitary napkin etiquette and good hygiene among underprivileged girls.
Through referrals from partner organisations, we identify families-in-need who urgently require sanitary items. Our organisation provides each family with 6 month's worth of items. In 2020, we supported 21 families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Every month, we distribute drinks and light snacks for the homeless persons at Anjung Singgah YKN Kuala Lumpur. Engaging with the homeless community that we serve allows us to understand their needs better.
